№.1 Transmission Distance

Both HD-CVI and HD-SDI can transfer HD signal @720p/1080p, but HD-CVI has an obvious advantage at the transmission distance. HD-SDI reaches 100 meters at most while HDCVI, at least, transmits 500 meters by using 75-3 cable and is featured by its low signal distortion rate.

The anti-interference capability of HD-SDI solution is relatively poor, while HD-CVI adopts low-frequency modulation technology, making it free from the high-frequency wireless electric radiation to ensure stable video transmission in high image quality.

Generally, BNC connections of HD-CVI products are set easily for video. No need to set ID, IP addresses, etc.

On the other hand, IP cameras provide very high resolution. But the installation and operation of them require network knowledge, network switches, IP address configuration for each camera. Network cable distance is limited to 300 feet per segment.

And IP Cameras and recorders tend to be expensive and there is a slight delay in video. But for advanced installers, or network/IT professionals IP Camera provide an excellent option.

HD-CVI use point to point transmission to make sure smooth and reliable image quality, while IP Camera depends on Internet, which may lead to information loss if the Internet is not stable.

№.3 Transmission Distance

Over Coax or ethernet cable, HD-CVI can transmit video at least 1,500 feet, while IP Camera can not transmit more than 333 feet.

№.4 Benefits of IP Cameras

Compared with HD Analog Camera, IP Camera is a network product. It can work without network video recorder. What’s more, if there are enough network bandwidth, it is much easier to add an additional IP Camera.

Using a POE IP Camera, you can transmit both power and video on a single Ethernet cable.
